R51/3 - calibrating rear brake?

Hello.
I have my rear pedal sitting way above the level of the footpeg.
I played with all the parts that are in the "rear brake system chain", tried all kind of options and never got it right. In order to get the right powerful brake stroke, it has to stick up, almost touching the carb...
Is there a guide or protocol regarding the assembly of it and its calibration? The linings are in a good shape.

Hello Michael,

there are some parts that can be adjusted:
- rear brake lever
- brake lever on the footbrake shaft
- position of the footrest

If you post a picture here it will be easier to see where the problem is.

Your brakepedal seems to be the right shape. It's position is only dictated by the foot peg, because it finds its resting place against the rubber of the food peg. Did you allready change the postion of the footpeg to a lower position, and waht difference did it make?

Another possibility, according to the spareparts list on the Salis website, there was a longer footpeg until 1954 and shorter there after (140 versus 110 mm). Maybe your foot peg should be the shorter one?

das muss mal jemand überstezen...mein englisch reicht dafür nicht.

einfache Lösung....
der Hebel der am bremspedal befestigt ist.... ( die Mutter) lösen
() ist eine einfache Keilverzahnung...schwer zu lösen...aber mit Schraubenzieher o.ä. zu lösen)
Hebel in Popsition bringen ....also so wie es jetzt ist...
Bremspedal in gewünschte Stellung-h ( ALSO WEITER RUNTER)...
wieder mit mit Hebel zusammenschrauben


das Ganze ist nur falsch zusammengebaut...da Hebel und Bremspedal sich trennen lassen und in anderer Position zusammbauen lässt...alles kein Problem

Es funktioniert nicht.
Der Anschlag für den Bremshebel ist die Fusraste.
Die Rückzugfeder zieht den Fussbremshebel wie nach oben.

BIS ER IRGENDWO anliegt...das Blech vom Hebel eben an der SCHALTERBEFESTIGUNG....wäre es so wie von dir beschrieben liegt das Bremspedal immer so hoch...es sei denn man nimmt rechts eine kürzere Fußraste....damit kann man aber keine Feineinstellug erreichen
